Early morning

August 26th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Woke up at 6.15am.
Crawled out of bed, half hoping it’s raining so I have an excuse to stay under the covers.

Bright sunny morning, unlike yesterday’s rainstorm and floods (click for pictures). Damn.

So I gobbled a small tub of yogurt. Had a glass of water.
Brushed my teeth. Put on my running gear and I’m out into the streets.
Met up with CY half way between our homes and we ran for over half an hour, going slightly further than the last time.

6.30am is a good time to run. Less cars and human traffic. The tree lined streets in my neighbourhood were wonderfully shady despite the sun. It was cool and breezy, and if it weren’t for the occasional smoke spewing bus, the air was pretty okay at this hour.

We saw an adorable Newfie, almost 2 years old and his owner today. He’s huge and black (the dog, not the owner) with the most playful bounce as he ran from one side of his gate to another.

CY went to get breakfast from a streetside vendor. Jian Bing (literally fried biscuit), a thin crispy pancake with egg, preserved vege, spring onions, coriander, and hoisin sauce, with a crispy piece of tofu skin (fu pei), all rolled up. I had it 2 weeks ago and it was really yummy and filling.

By the time I got home it was about 7.30am. Had cheese and toast with a cup of tea. Showered. Now I’m in front of the computer blogging, debating if I should get a quick shut eye before I go to work.

Better not.
I might not wake up! Hee hee!

I like mornings like this.
Feels like the whole day is still ahead of me.

Hey, that’s what Kylie Kwong ate in her China show! Then she rudely refused to try some fermented mung bean soup. :D

Grrr….the way a lot of the Western media are putting it, it seems like all the Chinese participants in the opening & closing ceremonies and volunteers are all robots, either smiling in pavlovian fashion or stony faced automatons.

On another note though, what happened to the 2 grannies who applied to protest but then were (as the media puts it), thrown into jail? How true is that

WN: Eeeee! Dun like Kylie Kwong. So bluff wan her cooking. Heehee.

‘Stony face automatons’ - you should see close ups of the Chinese politicians… very funny lor their politician smile. Like plastered on, Joker style. Hahahah!

The 2 grannies - I dunno wor. Didn’t hear anything about it. News here censored, remember? ;)

Damn. If I had only seen the closeup shot and not that one of the jian bing hawker auntie, I would have thought you got yours in some swanky cafe :P

WN: It’s actually pretty yummy! It’s like a savoury apam balik!
