It could be broken

August 20th, 2008 · 6 Comments

At the gym last weekend, I weighed myself.
Usually I’m 60kg, give or take a kilo or two (it varies pre or post pangsai, pre or post workout, you know, stuff like that).

But that day the scale balanced at 55kg (bogel with towel) and 56kg, fully dressed. I couldn’t believe it, so I pushed the balancing weights all the way back to zero and tried again. The scale was consistent.

I lost 4-5kg in 2 months?
With hardly any exercise (except for my 10-min walk to and from work) ?

It could be that I lost muscle mass from not cycling or swimming or running since I got here. Or that the food I cook is reasonably healthy and that I only eat out on the weekend. Or that I don’t have my usual munchy buddies like JH in the office (no personal pantry). No after office waffles with YL and TL. Or yao char koay with JH’s kopi. Or bak kut teh whenever I crave for it. No equally greedy boyfriend to eat 3-4 roti canais with (that’s per person, per seating). No chabohkia to eat our usual Hokkien Char or lamb chops with. No free pizzas courtesy of Dogma. No insane amounts of food my mom cooks at home every day (food I couldn’t stand to see go to waste).

Wow. I haven’t been at this weight since college.

I celebrated on Monday night with Happy Hour (2 half pints of Strongbow Cider), fish and chips, and bangers and mash (shared with MY, CY and HF, of course) at Bulldog while watching Russian Elena Isinbaeva break the world record on the pole vault (why, only for the 23rd time in her life). It was an awesome clear on her 3rd jump - the whole pub screamed for her.

Anyway, the scale at the gym could be broken.
Hmmm.

a bite of celery, a nibble of chicken, four grains of rice and a single grape can be considered to cover the major food groups too… but without chocolate and roti canai, with awesome kurma, quite unhealthy..

WN: Trust me, I eat wayyyyyy more than that! ;)
